Summer weekend

Great summer weekend.. Michael has been visiting and we have been doing all we can to enjoy the superb weather.  On Friday we walked down through the forest to meet Anne, Michael, Miles and Alex for a hike through the arboretum and a very fine picnic on a point looking out over the lake, and walk back through the water-lily marshes of Foster Island

On Saturday we piked on a camping trip, but made a round trip up to Denny Creek and ate a picnic dinner on a huge boulder at Franklin Falls.

Today was cloudy but seemed to be lightening by afternoon, so we raced back up to Denny and walked up to the waterslide and falls. Michael and Blaise accompanied Anselm up to the falls on the slightly scary climb he and I did last year. Better with
two adults with him. The kids were magnificent-- three 2+-mile hikes in three days, and they both practically ran all three. It's great to find Eliot just as good a walker as her big brother, who also ran and climbed his way through multi-mile hikes when he was three. They both adore being out, climbing on rocks and on the huge fallen logs. Michael, everyone's hero, played sword fights with Anselm right through the forest.

And to top it off, dinner with the returned Paul, Robin and Rachel!
