This week will see the funeral of my last grandparent, my grandmother, Mother, Nell Middleton. Mother passed away last week after a long, slow decline following a hip replacement a couple of years ago; she was 93. Mother was a person of amazing spirit and humor; she was never someone to complain, despite the growing discomforts and disabilities of the last few years. I remember her, with Father, or Mum, on the fiddle, leading the extended family in songs around the piano. She made the lightest sponge cake and the best trifle; her mind was sharp to the end and she always had a joke.
Our best to all the Middletons.
