Another milestone

My student Barry successfully defended his thesis yesterday, and we celebrated with a big lab and family party at home last night. Barry joined my lab in 2004, and he and his wife Abby, and their twin babies Jack and Bella, have been a real presence in our family. Barry was Eliot's first crush, and Anselm's first real-life hero-- Barry does mountain search and rescue, which was Anselm's fascination when he was 2. Barry actually did rescue Anselm when he was four, on our lab trip to Lake Wenatchee.. Anselm overtired himself jumping through snowdrifts on a hike and Barry carried him home so we could make it back before dark.

I have been very fortunate with my students. They are all great people.
