Last day
Today was our last day, and I honored it by taking no photos. In the morning, we played on the beach and at four-square under the house (a.k.a. handball, the single-minded obsession of my group of four friends in fourth and fifth grade). In the afternoon, we revisited Tunnels for a last snorkel; Eliot swam joyfully til she turned blue, and Anselm at last discovered the point of a boogie board and comically attemped to surf the six inch waves for at least an hour. We stopped through Hanalei for a final Java Kai and to pick up some ceviche and swordfish to elevate the planned tomato sauce and pasta dinner. Anselm overcame his inherited shyness and this evening finally made contact and played with our little neighbour, Tanner, whose unexploited presence for the entire fortnight was a missed opportunity and maybe the sole regret of quite a wonderful trip.
