It's afternoon on an endless Saturday, and we are home again. This morning Japan time, Jessica, kids and I headed to the Tokyo American Club for pancakes and a swim in the outdoor pool-- a much, much appreciated dip into normalcy for Anselm. The kids had just a great time meeting up again, and I hope have reinforced their friendship for the long term. Blaine then took them while Jessica and I did some very fun browsing and shopping in Azabu Juban, the lovely little neighbourhood near their house. Stupidly I forgot to take photos of this day, and the kids. To make up, here are a couple from our train trip to Mt Takao.

Long but uneventful flight home, of which Anselm slept through the entirety except for a viewing of
The Spiderwick Chronicles at the start. Eliot was happy to see me at the airport, though mid-hug her immediate question was whether we could go get a hot chocolate. Her real joy was seeing Anselm again. The two of them had a long, long hug, then walked hand in hand and beaming all the way to the car. Now in some parental cross-wiring, Blaise is taking Anselm out to see
Wall-E, and Eliot and I will watch
Kiki's Delivery Service at home.
