This American life
On the plane to/from San Diego, I listened to a couple of NPR "This American life" podcasts Blaise (an addict) loaded onto my iPod. The most stunning: Habeas Shmabeas, about Guantanamo, and the encroachment of civil liberties. Most fascinating was the historical perspective on attempts to suspend habeas corpus-- when it was attempted in England in the 1660s by Lord Clarendon, he was impeached, and a law was made to prevent such a thing from ever happening again. And this is before England was actually a democracy. Highly recommended listening.
