My Eliot

What is she up to these days? She sings, she laughs, she tells stories, she obsesses about movies (most recently, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, a futurist environmental anime fable), she makes jokes, she is learning, learning, learning words (while swimming: "Mum, what is an autoclave?"), she pores over books, she demands to be read to: "But I don't know the WORDS!". This morning she told me about a trip she did in May or June to the Science Fiction Museum: "Mum, I went with Jessy to a museum and there were robots there. The robot on the top of the building wall was HUUUGE!". Blaise took her and Anselm (again) to see WALL-E, her first cinema experience.. she was rapt. She often quotes from films-- "Hey MEN! Have you made up your minds yet?". And, when she doesn't want something I'm doing to her, it's "Stop that, old lady!" or "Give me some SPACE!". When she grows up, she wants to be "A boy!". Oy vey. Her favorite toy all week: a Playmobil winch, which has accompanied her everywhere. Her favorite game: "Let's become friends", whereby she and I walk toward each other as though we don't know each other, then we introduce ourselves (her invention).
