Anselm is turning 7 tomorrow. For his party today, 5 kids joined us for an elaborate multi-clue treasure hunt in Volunteer Park (largely designed and implemented by dad) in beautiful sunshine, then pizza and cake and icecream cones, then a showing of Wall-E. A long event, but all in all calm. Anselm was a little low with a fever, which was a pity.He had invited equal numbers of boys and girls, which says more about his innate abilities to get along than about the innate abilities of boys and girls to get along, as, I'd say, they didn't, really. Here is his cake. Blaise made the substrate and frosting and I did the artwork, guided by Anselm. It was judged a success. It's harder than it looks, to draw on cake. He actually ate and enjoyed the cake, a rarity-- Pat's Super Choco, Mum, minus some sugar!
For his birthday celebration at school, he wants to bring tomato crostini. ("But if not, cupcakes will be fine.")
