More conversations with the bellibone

"When I grow up, I want to be a man. [Pause.] I want to be a woman. I want to be a queen, maybe."

After Anselm asking about a hot tub dip after dinner:

"I want to go in the other hot tub-- with Leela and Avi."

We realized that she must be talking about the hot tub at the Hyatt in Hawaii (four months ago!). [Note from the next day: she picked up the additional information, and today elaborated the plan to: "I want to go back to Hawaii and go swimming in the pool and in the hot tub with Leela and Avi!"]

In the bath:

"Here's the puffin. He's a kind of a bird. Birds have beaks!"

She's a precise namer and likes to know exactly what things are called-- different types of cheese, different rooms, different pasta shapes, different leaves in the salad, and of course, all people and most animals must be named. She is so uncomfortable with nameless characters in books that we must make up names for them.

While she loves building and puzzles, she is, unlike Anselm, generally fascinated by figures. She is now officially into her dolls, Georgina (Mum gave her last Christmas) and Bella (borrowed from Georgia), who are fed, read to, talked to and put to bed. She loves the train set but spent much of her play time fishing out and arranging the hitherto unnoticed set of wooden people that came with it. She gets distracted while stacking Michael's alphabet boxes by two pictures: J for jack-in-the-box and Q for queen.
