While Anselm's reports for math and science have been excellent, it has been hard to see evidence for this skill at home beyond a general enthusiasm, and maybe the games and activities he most enjoys, 'til recently. Suddenly he is on fire, loving to read and to do math problems-- he asked me while I was making dinner to give him some "times" problems. (I didn't give him very hard ones, and he didn't get them all right--he tends to freeze up with me, so even asking for them was a big step) but he was delighted to be doing them. The teacher had asked parents to work on time-telling, so we started on a few this evening. He was very excited about it. Blaise started with some easy ones-- 3:00, 6:30, then 7:05, which is not one they have worked on. His pleasure when he "got" it was palpable. Then they moved on to 11:02, 8:17 and so on-- he was so excited. "Dad can't give me anything that is too hard!".He also willingly sat and worked out with me how many days old he is on the weekend. Fun.
