I'm happy to say it all went well. The teacher seems great (though she seems to have decided we are Spanish speaking parents). Anselm's room sports an automatic pencil sharpener and a tadpole, aikido pal Liam is in the same class, and his deskmate Floyd was wearing a Star Wars t-shirt. He was excited and happy to go in today-- running most of the way except for a stop to smell the flowers--following an hour of orientation yesterday which evidently relieved a lot of anxiety. He was pretty wiped out this afternoon, powering down at 5pm, so he watched the second half of Bedknobs and Broomsticks and quietly ran a mild fever til dinner, book and bed.
The school is physically beautiful: original wood stairs, railings and trim, high ceilings, a big, open library, and Anselm's room has a view across to the lake. We were pleased to realise how many of the parents we know, even just by sight..the advantages of a neighbourhood school.
