A fine day in Whistler

Anselm seems to have had a great day on the mountain, judging by the beaming face at the end of the day. Eliot went happily off with Abby and into daycare this morning, but we were paged while at lunch because she was crying-- though no sign of it when Blaise raced over to pick her up. When I got back from the afternoon session the kids were in a great mood. Anselm and Abby made some beautiful kirigami together (and had discussed symmetries, which Anselm has been learning about at school). Far from apres-ski exhaustion, he then spent the evening doing gymnastics around the room and wrestling with Barry. Eliot is also delighted with both of her new friends, who are staying with us here; she seems to have a bit of a crush on Barry, and lights up around him. After we left them at lunch, she tearily asked me "Barry? Abby?" but cheered up when I assured her they would be joining us again soon.

Tonight Blaise and I got to sneak out to the opening night of The Golden Compass-- we read and enjoyed the series last year. It is very compressed and not entirely perfect but still, quite grand.

Left is the village seen from our room.
