Eliot is in that rapid acceleration phase with language and other developments. She is routinely using 3 word sentences and working on longer. Now she has all her colors straight she seems compelled to use them whenever possible. She likes to answer questions, like "Who is Anselm's dad?" (her answer: "Blaise"), and if she doesn't know, says, "Ummmm" very thoughtfully, looking into the middle distance, or throws in a placeholder word (something like "ABC"). She needs to know everyone's name. She counts to three. She is very curious about letters and remembers a few, though which few varies-- she will occasionally point them out on a page: "Blue S!". "Two Os!". This morning, while reading one of her current favorites, "Little Miss Giggles" (thanks for that Mum..), she pointed out "Two Ses!". I showed her an "M". Without missing a beat she pointed at the microscopic "TM" next to the book title and said "Tiny M! next T!". She is essentially reading books to herself, though she likes company for it: turning all the pages, pointing and describing everything, backtracking to favorite parts of the story.
She uses a lot of intonations and carries on little conversations with herself, in alternating voices. Today she was stacking blocks and when she put the top one on, said "NICE! Good girl!".
