iPod and Zune

All right, I can finally weigh in on this partisan issue. Our designer friends Bill and Heidi came for dinner, and Bill is the Zune guy, so brought one with him. Meanwhile, our household walls finally crumbled to the iPhone, without the phone, in the form of the iPod Touch. Web browsing on the iPod fulfils all the hopes of Seadragon for small devices, and the multitouch interface is the future. However: as the "dork" option (not a competitor for the iPod touch as it lacks web), the Zune really has its points. Bill's was a contemporary olive color-- stylish, urban, and very central to my palette. And has a very neat interface, with a comfortable round button that can be either clicked or stroked. Nice clean look and fonts, and-- this is my favorite part-- a very appealing matte texture that feels rugged yet cute. Beautiful as the iPod is, it drives me insane that I feel I soil it with my very touch and constantly have to polish it.
