Toast

Back from a hectic few days in SD. Many enjoyable science discussions including a visit to K-lab, the kids' posters went pretty well, and many, many social events.. party and a great dinner with Michael; a fun funder-hosted dinner which, happily, Anne also attended with brother Mark; my prize reception; a packed social; the President's reception; and to cap it all off, sailing around SD harbor at midnight last night with Mike, Sandra, Ken and friends. I am fried.

The kids were very happy to have me back. Eliot launched into demonstrations of her new word combinations and refused a hug, until Anselm gave me an enormous one, then she demanded that he move on and copied the gesture (rather quotationally). Then we went to math games night at school--2 hours after I got home, with Blaise still away for a few more days, in Berlin and Barcelona. Would have worked better with one child, one parent, rather than one child, one toddler and one toast.
