Whistler weekend

We spent the Presidents' Day long weekend at Whistler again, with the idea of giving Anselm another run on skis before the season ends, in the most painless way possible. The entire experience took 20 minutes last Wednesday to arrange. Two of Anselm's friends turned out to be going up at the same time and we had a great night with Christine, Josh, Dylan and Eva, along with a bunch of other neighbours, on Sunday night at their condo.

Throughout the weekend, Anselm was suffering from a nasty cold, but was determined to go ahead with his classes, despite telling me softly on the second morning that he was feeling "the opposite of my best". That didn't stop him jumping into his ski clothes and then jumping into the pool and hot tub every evening. All in all, he didn't get much sleep and by yesterday was as tired as I've ever seen him, but he had a great time, made good progress, and now has the rest of the winter break to recover, poor little guy.

Our plan had been to have Eliot in daycare and plough through some work in the calmest of surroundings, but she foiled that with hysterics at the daycare (time to start with some preschool!). We swapped off for her remaining waking hours.. Blaise took her swimming and I took her up in the gondola, where she shocked the teenagers riding up with us with the conversation ("How old are you?" "Twenty months") she kept up all the way to the top, and her reading of the numbers on the gondola window.

We were posing some questions in the car on the way home: Where are Barry and Abby? "Seattle!" Where are Grandma and Granddad? "Tralia!" Where are we now? "In mountains, going down!". Where are Lucinda and Arno? Pause. "In computer!".
