Depths of jetlag

For the third time, I am up with the kids at dawn. First day, 3am; second, 4.45am, today we made it to 5.45. We are downstairs, Anselm playing the Sudoku that Jessica and Blaine gave him, Eliot cooking on Lucinda's stove. Staying with Jessica and Blaine has been such a wonderful way to be in Tokyo-- having friends here grounds the kids, as do meals at home; there are toys and movies; there is space to get up and keep out of the way through the early hours. Yesterday we finished up our Mt Takao trip with a stop at Lucinda's favorite "rope swing park", which has a zip-line-- joy. Both Eliot and Anselm are happy (I know this from their first conversation today: "Hello Anselm! I love you." "I love you too." "Are you happy?" "Yes." "I'm happy too!") and relaxed and enjoying this trip completely.
