Tonight we the adults went out for an exquisite dinner at Ozaki. Here's what we reconstructed of the menu:
-- abalone and another sliced sea creature and crispy sea vegetables with jelly
-- sashimi plate with chives/white fish, shrimp, white fish, tuna; lime&salt, chive sauce, soy
-- sushi of two tunas, New Zealand and Japanese
-- hairy crab stewed in its juices
-- pudding, sea urchin, jelly
-- slice of warm sea creature with sauce of black grains
-- turtle fritter
-- grilled sea eel; salt
-- sushi: fluke, orange organ, sea urchin, eel (2 types), tuna roll, salmon roe
-- broth
-- almond pudding with matcha
There were three types of tea, and every dish was served on a beautiful plate or dish. All of these items were superb and unexpected, but some stood out particularly: the incredibly buttery shrimp, the richness of the turtle fritter, the white fish/chive package dipped in lime and salt, and the crab, whose uppermost slivers were light and sweet, but which became gradually richer with the juices of the disintegrated organs and roe.
