Party day

Sunday was the day of the big party: Anselm's class, our neighbours and other friends joined us at a cool uptown pool where the kids swam in the 'lazy river', sailed inner tubes and goofed. We had pizza and cake, with the kids sitting shockingly quietly and calmly eating at their tables. The cakes were an elaboration of our space theme of a couple of years ago: the earth and moon, and this time, also the sun and Neptune (complete with alien). Then the kids disappeared into the balmy evening, to the playground right outside the room to use up the last erg or two. Rather than get a zillion presents, Anselm agreed to a present exchange, where everyone brought one and took one home (thanks to Leela's party for this idea). He didn't seem to have a moment's regret about it. We thought was a huge success, relaxed and fun for everyone.
