Got back to Seattle this evening after another beautiful day. We went to the park near our hotel, then met Michael for a yummy late breakfast at Nice-Matin (Eliot ate incredible amounts) . I really like it there. The food is as good as Balthazar, although one misses out on the gorgeous interior. It was so warm that we ate outside.Michael took Anselm to "Cosmic Collisions" at the Planetarium while Eliot and I looked at dinosaur and extinct mammal bones, then we all strolled through the Mythic Creatures exhibition. Adult favorites: the real life monsters that might have inspired the stories, like gigantopithecus, maybe a Yeti model, and a couple of monstrous birds from New Zealand. Kid favorite: the software that let him assemble a dragon out of parts. We filled every minute until meeting our car at 3.15.
The kids were stellar on the flight (as on the whole trip). Noone vomited. Eliot fell asleep and Anselm sat quietly; we read a Roald Dahl book. Then he dropped off and Eliot woke up, rested and cheerful. We spent a long time on Where's the Green Sheep? where she had a big breakthrough with colour. This has been the week of putting together adjectives and other noun qualifers: our house, Jessy's book, Mama's shirt, Eliot's shoes, blue jamies. Half an hour from landing she also assembled her first good sentence: "Let's go--home!". And then burst into a long chorus of "Home! Home! Home!", ET style.
